In 1973, Leeds United and Admiral pioneered custom-made kits, trademarking them by incorporating their logos.
Leeds and Admiral recognised that this could generate additional revenue by allowing the sale of official replica kits to supporters. England’s national team quickly adopted Admiral’s designs, and by the late 1970s, many domestic clubs, including Oxford United, had followed suit.

Oxford United's Admiral strip was straight off the shelf and did not feature a club crest.
A red, white and blue away kit was introduced, identical to England's away kit of that time.

An all-white strip was identical in styling to the home strip and looked very much like the Leeds Utd kit of that time.
