Badges & Logos

The Skybet competition sleeve patches and numbers remained unchanged from 2016.

For the first time in many seasons, all of the sponsors remained unchanged. Liontrust featured for the final year of their three-year deal.

Polythene UK and Alycidon continued with their respective back of shirt/short deals.

Home Kit & Away Variations

No
long
sleeves

The 2017 kit had an air of familiarity about it, as the shirt design was simply a colour reversal of the 2016 change shirt.

Once again there were no long-sleeved shirts provided, so the slightly darker yellow Sub base layers were provided.

I felt that the blue socks were a mismatched colour when compared to the rest of the kit.

Some players wore smaller sized shirts featuring a junior sized sponsors logo (see player 18). This was because the navy rib panels reduced the width of the chest area.

Away Kit

Long
sleeves

Oxford United last wore ‘all-black’ during the 2005 season. This particular design had grey/silver detailing, giving the kit a smart understated look.

Goalkeeper Kits

Poppy Shirts

This was the very first time a yellow ‘home’ shirt had featured a poppy. Up until this point, every remembrance weekend had coincided with an away fixture with Oxford always wearing away colours.

Chairman Darryl Eales pre-bought all 18 shirts, with a donation to the Royal British Legion. He planned to resell the shirts to genuine collectors, with the second round of proceeds also being donated to the Royal British Legion.
