EFL Branding

Although the design of the EFL numbers remained unchanged, pleasingly, Oxford returned to navy numerals rather than black, which had been used in the previous five seasons.

The competition sleeve patches remained unchanged, however, the EFL’s ‘Not Today or Any Day’ campaign patch was refreshed with larger text.

Home Kit & Away Variation

Oxford United's 2021 home kit was a disappointment with a plain shirt that lacked distinctive design elements.

Yellow shorts 'should' have been the alternative short colours, and yellow shorts would have also worked well as an alternative for the away kit. However, frustratingly, new EFL regulations restrict the use of garments that are not officially registered as part of the away or third kits.

The home socks differed from other Puma offerings, as they had the Ox motif positioned on the front shin. This design choice led to confusion, as some players opted to cut the feet off their socks in favour of grip socks, resulting in an inconsistent appearance with no clear front or back orientation.

The all-black away shirt included a subtle repeating chevron pattern, yellow trim, and the club crest picked out in black.

With manager Karl Robinson preferring his teams to wear white, there was little surprise to see a white kit in the 2021 range.

This was by far the most adventurous design for an Oxford shirt since the 1993 away shirt. Peterborough had the same design template in black and vivid pink.
